Pablo Carreno Busta – Felix Auger-Aliassime

Recent form

Shanghai is played on hard court, as a Masters 1000 event, in a 96-player draw. Carreño Busta, No. 65 in the draw, defeated Mariano Navone and then Alejandro Tabilo in three sets, coming back after the first set each time; against Tabilo, he hit 47 winners, including 34 forehand winners.

Auger-Aliassime, No. 6 in the draw and described as the No. 4 seed by AS, defeated Camilo Ugo Carabelli in three sets after losing the first set, with two tiebreaks won. Both players have therefore shown resilience, but also significant recent physical exertion.

The men’s singles is normally played as the best of three sets with a tiebreak, according to the standard ATP rule, without an explicit explanation of the regulations in the sources used.

Head-to-head

No recent meeting between the two players is documented in the sources used. This lack of a direct reference point limits the assessment of their specific matchup and prevents using recent head-to-head history to distinguish between their styles.
